I look at back at times in my life when possibilities were presented to me, and found every excuse not to accept those gifts.
Let's face it, when an opportunity arises, usually some hard work is required to see it all the way through...and when you don't know what the outcome will be, it's all too easy to say no.
I heard a story told by my friend, a stand up comedian, recently.
He was having a discussion with fellow comics Colin Quinn and Chris Rock nearly 30 years ago...they spoke about auditioning for the David Letterman show.
My friend and Colin both agreed they weren't ready for such attention so early in their career.
Rock, who was only 19 at the time, was quick to disagree. "I'm ready" he said.
And so it was.
What struck me the most (like a bolt of lightening in fact) when I overheard this account, was how ready I was for my life to change.
It was a whisper at the time.
And it continues to grow louder.
Only this time, I'll make sure to accept the goodness that comes my way.
With open arms.
"And I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no..."
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no..."
